The Artistry of an Entrepreneur
Join us on Wednesday, October 9th when our guest speaker, Edgar Sotelo, tells his story of the American Dream becoming a reality. He will share his best practices, including the importance of creating an environment promoting a company’s growth and employee well-being for a win-win situation; and his greatest setbacks and the trial and error process of an entrepreneur.
Edgar Sotelo has been a multi‐talented entrepreneur since he was six years old. His first endeavors were a comic book rental business and selling his hand drawn portraits on the streets in his neighborhood in Juarez, Mexico. Like so many, his hunger for a better life and his ambition led him to the United States. He put himself through school at Texas Tech University by earning scholarships, working odd jobs and selling his artwork.
He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1988. His degree led him into a corporate career with several nationally known food companies. His entrepreneurial and artistic ambitions stirred within him, till they could no longer be ignored. With encouragement and support from his wife and daughters, he went out on the proverbial “ limb” and started his own companies in Re‐Packaging and Art. He now has successful and growing businesses: Southwest Packaging Solutions, LLC and Sotelo Art Studio.
Southwest Packaging Solutions is an innovative new company that is doing the re‐packaging and related services for international food company Nestle, at its Fort Worth location. He has almost doubled the business annually and had benefitted much from support and knowledge gained from the E200 Emerging Entrepreneurs course sponsored by the GDHCC.
